95 5.0l fuel filter problem

95 5.0l fuel filter problem
My fuel lines are pushed to far onto my fuel filter where I can't get the quick release tool behind it. Should I just snip both sides of the filter and use needle nose pliers to pull them out. Or is there another solution.
