Question Parking brake dash light

New to posting, long time reader. Hey everybody I have a 1996 f150 inline 6 two wheel drive. I recently got my truck inspected and it failed for the emergency brake light not illuminating on the dashboard when the parking brake is engaged. After the usual checking every fuse possible under the dash and hood and also pulling my instrument panel off to check for a blown bulb I am currently clueless as to what the problem is. Ideas? Any help and advice is appreciated. Thanks

I should also add. My truck has never had any brake issues. The brakes and parking brake itself work great. Never had a problem. I've regularly maintained my brake pads and shoes. Bled my brakes properly every time. I feel it's more of an electrical issue more so than mechanical. All my other dash lights as far as I know work fine. Never had any issues with my instrument panel.

I had the same issue in my '95 and my '96. With the parking brake on, turn the key on, then unplug and plugin the electrical connector on the brake mechanism and see if the light comes on. If it does use a little sandpaper to expose frash metal on the connector tab. That should fix the problem.

Thank you very much. I will definitely be trying that in the morning. I appreciate it.
