Default Is this normal ? 1995 F150

Would appreciate your opinion.

We have a 1995 F150 with a 850CCA Interstate Battery about a year old. Engine is 5.0L. Batter was purchased by previous out of state owner. Battery typically holds a charge of around 12.41 V's. Even if it is charged or ran on the vehicle it seems to default back to about a 70% charge. Truck not used often. I thought maybe there was a parasitic draw so I disconnected negative cable and set my multimeter to the 10A max set with red lead set correctly into it's proper port. Touching both leads to the post and cable end I was getting a reading of .01. I believe this is normal. When touching the lead to the end of the battery cable an almost un-noticable tiny spark occurred. I believe this is normal.

Just curious if anyone has experienced something similar. Even if battery is low truck still starts. I know it should be used more but thats not reality and I know some use a trickle charger but it is garaged where I do not have electicity.

Thanks for any feedback.

What's the voltage at the battery posts when the truck is running? It should be 14 volts.
What's the battery voltage while you're cranking the truck? It shouldn't drop below 9.5 volts.
I wouldn't worry about a .01 amp battery draw. Could be the normal constant power to the PCM or your under hood light.

Thanks Soup Bean, when truck is running battery is charging so that is fine. For now I disconnected the negative so if truck sits for awhile I will not have a low battery.

That works
Rather just see you drive it once a week
I have 8 cars myself and know, it's a pain
If disconnected for long enough and enough times, the KAM will reset (keep alive memory)
That will make the processor have to re learn idle speed and some raw sensor data
No big deal
It may run funky for a few hours / days until it re learns

I do not mind that because here in NY you only need a safety inspection once a year. No engine emissions involved. I remember when I had a 2016 Challenger with only 400 miles on it and had to remove the battery just before inspection because of an issue. It failed inspection.

I prefer the old stuff when you can disconnect the battery for extended periods and there's little worry on restarts.
