Default Ignition switch linkage/actuator broken.

A few months ago I posted that my 1995 xlt 5.0 would start but not turn off. I found out the linkage or actuator was messed up and was told the easiest fix would be change the whole column out. Well I haven't been able to find one and I certainly don't want to deal with this in the future. My question is this:
Has anyone mounted one of these on the dash and bypassed it all? I'm an electrician by trade and I know if I find the diagram I can make that part work but what about the steering wheel locking? Would I have to keep a key in the old switch so it won't lock?

The ignition lock cylinder is more than just a way to operate the ignition switch; it ALSO locks & unlocks the steering wheel, AND the shifter (auto trans only), and there can be other options that work through it (especially on a '94-95). So bypassing it electrically will NOT have the effect you want or imagine.

Either repair or replace it properly.

I don't want to bypass the keyswitch. That works. The problem with the ignition is solely actuator which is electrical. With the key in run I don't see any reason I can't bypass it with a switch in picture.

If I can't fix it this way or find an aftermarket steering column with better ignition switch design I'm going to scrap a perfectly otherwise running truck. Tired of wasting time on a poor design.

Where are you? I'll give you more than the scrapyard offers.

I'm in East Texas. I'm not quite ready yet but I have been to every scrapyard 100miles in every direction from me with no luck on a column.

Could you be more vague...? Are you near DFW? Or Silsbee? Beaumont?
