Help me disable anti theft notification
I recently bought a 1994 Ford F150, and it has this weird feature I hope I can disable. It's this anti-theft thing, where it dings when I open the driver side door to remind me to lock the doors. It's really pointless in my opinion, because that dinging sound would be more helpful telling me that I left the keys in the ignition, or left the lights on. There have been a couple times I left the lights on because of that. Thankfully I've never left the keys in the ignition. But I was wondering if there was some way to disable it; not disabling the dinging sound itself, but making it only sound when I leave the lights on or the keys in the ignition. Any ideas?

I suspect you are misinterpreting its function. I suspect you have a problem with your lock cylinder not recognizing that the key is removed.

When I replaced my airbag clockspring it replaced the little clip on sensor on the lock cylinder housing that recognizes the key position. I had the same problem as you until that was replaced/fixed. I'm pretty sure you can access it just by pulling the bottom of the steering column cover off.

It's just a piece of metal on the side of the cylinder, you can easily disable the chime if you want, just follow the noise then unplug the box it's coming from. Also try pulling the chrome key turn out (away from column), that's what stops mine.
