Good Ol' Ford starting problems...

I'll put in my 2 cents worth here: This kind of issue can sometimes be miss-alignment of the the actual ignition switch down on the steering column that is actuated by a rigid rod running down from the key switch to that actual ignition switch. The mounting holes for that switch are elongated and it's possible to have those screws loose or such that the last (start) position is not reached when the key is turned to the start position, I've also seen that ignition switch wear out to the point that the last (start) position just doesn't work, or that the 'run' position of the switch does not stay powered up.

That is definitely a good thing to add here no doubt, even though this wasnt the problem for me, it could as simple as that for someone else. Good contribution.
