Fuel Gauge Issues
Hello,
Recently, I turned on my 95 Eddie Bauer (5.0 V8 302) and noticed that the fuel gauge was way past full to the right.
I did some research and found that it more than likely would be a bad Fuel Sending Unit.
When I plugged back in the wiring, the gauge now went way past empty.
Checked the cluster and found no issues.
Are there any recommendations?
Thank you in advance.

An open circuit either with the sending unit (dead spot) or its wiring will send your gauge past the full mark to its mechanical limit. A sticking or heavy float can five a false empty reading. Either way, you may have to lower the tank or slide the bed to give you access to the tank's top.
I have been dealing with a dead spot with one of my tanks for many years. When the fuel level is from 3/4 to 1/2. my gauge will be pegged past full. It works fine on either side of 3/4 and 1/2. I just haven't felt like dropping the tank to fix it.

Got it, thank you. But what would would it be if it went from that past full mark to now at the empty mark?
- Originally was way past full, replaced the fuel sending unit and when connected again, it was now at empty.
I'll drop the tank this weekend and check it out.
