Factory Speakers Don't Work

I finally changed the speakers. Since it only has 1 in each door, it wasn't a difficult thing to do (which I feared, anything electrical I have my personal doubts as to whether I can manage to not ruin it..).
I have sound!!! The $13 Boss speakers from Walmart work fine. Once in a while, one will go quite, once in a while the passenger side speaker won't make sound when playing a cassette, BUT
I have music. I can deal with the little issues, accepting the fact that this 30 year old wiring hasn't been used to carry music for years (judging by the cndition of the old speakers). A CD player is still a desired upgrade, but for now, I'll be happy with what I have. Thanks for the help
