fixed, sometimes it is the simple stuff, mine was a bad switch or more precisely the coil spring for the dash light. it was off and hanging down. the only hard part was getting the **** off. now i have to put the **** back on. the little spring clip won't grip anymore. i found out the dash lights didn't work because i drove the truck home in the dark and no dash lights.
