Went to AutoZone and they cant read the codes on my truck with their scanner. I know the guy there pretty good, because I'm in there so frequently, and he told me it could be my MAP, MAF, or TPS sensor. So many damn sensors on these things...but I'm leaning towards TPS because the truck does seem to have a high idle in Park and pulsating RPM's during acceleration. Any other opinions on this?

Okay, so I just did my first self diagnostics run for my OBD I port via the paper clip method and these are my results: During the first system check I got a flash of 1 and 1 (11), looked it up and it means "System Pass"! Then the system went into the second part of the check and I got codes 63, and 33. 63 came up as "TPS circuit below minimum 0.6 volts" or "TPS circuit has intermittently failed below minimum 0.6 volts". So I guess it is a bad TPS like I originally thought, that is the next thing on my shopping list. 33 came up as "EGR valve opening not detected". Anyone know what this means? Now I unplugged my vacuum line leading to my EGR valve about a day or two ago just to check the suction on it, could that be what this code is hinting at since its just like a pending code and I interrupted the system when I unplugged it?

Thanks to everyone who has posted so far in helping me around this issue. Wish I would have checked for the codes sooner but ill take it as a learning experience ;) lol

I would re-connect the EGR, and replace the TPS. If the problem still persists then you have only a few other parts to throw at it.
The Ignition Control Module
The Distributor Pickup Coil
A bit more of a stretch would be the ignition switch itself....

My vote for next part to throw a it would be the Ignition Control Module.
(Especially if you still have the unit mounted on the distributor)

Vfer should be about 5 volts.

First: put all the truck's details into your signature as described in this caption:

(phone app link)

Then try each diagnostic step already mentioned in this thread, but DON'T change any parts unless they fail a published test. Post all your results.
