Question 89 F150, ACC position on ignition lock cylinder inoperative.

My ignition lock cylinder seems worn, and when I turn it backward for acc, the accessories won't work. Is this the fault of the lock cylinder? If I replace the lock cylinder, will that fix the accessory part, or is there a contact in the steering column that could be doing it? The accessories work in the on position, and the truck starts fine. I know that if I turn the key to on, then push in the pin under the steering column, I can pull the lock cylinder out, but would I be able to tell anything by looking at it? Thanks
