Default 1995 OBD I to 1996 OBD II Conversion

I am assuming this can be done, just wondering if anyone has been able to pull it off. Is it as simple as an engine harness and an OBDII ECM?

I have a very custom 1995 truck and I am tired of having to take it to a dyno tuner every time I want to change something. I also don't necessarily want to get into something like TweeCar

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think it would be quite that simple, no. I think the dash wiring would be involved, and probably the instrument cluster, at a minimum.

And the ignition and perhaps a knock sensor, MAP, MAF, new O2 sensors, etc. You would need schematics for both trucks and some knowledge of how the systems worked. You would also probably need the evaporative emissions pump that is used to test the sealing of the fuel tank system. I think on an OBDII system, it will turn on the check engine light if you leave the gas cap loose because the test won't build pressure.
I would start by obtaining factory schematics for both trucks.
I agree the treadmill is a pain. When it is old enough, is it exempt?

The truck currently has no emissions equipment on it. Ignition is the separate module on the fender and the round plug on the distributor. I guess my other bet would be to go to a salvage yard and check out some 96 F150's

It is a 1995 with no emissions equipment? How does it ever pass? My 1995 Dodge had fuel injection and timing controlled by the computer with an O2 sensor, egr and evaporative controls.

1995 is exempt from emission testing where I live. When I did my custom engine, I got rid of the smog pump, thermactor assembly, blocked off the EGR in the new intake manifold, and plugged the cylinder heads. Then the emissions functionality was disabled in the chip

I live in the Peoples Republic of California and I wish I could get rid of emissions testing on my 96 F-150. It will never happen, they make a killing on the tests every 2 years. I think you have to have a 1975 and earlier year to be exempt. Where are you from?

If you really want to do it, the only way that makes sense is go buy a piece of crap 96 and rob what you need. Then sell the rest off for scrap. It's in another post already, but I just bought this low miler (55000) 96 for 500 cause it was rusty (smashed up, blown trans, same idea). I just wanted the low mileage motor to rebuild for my 95. I'll sell a few of the parts off it maybe and still get 300 at the scrap metal yard.
