Default 1995 4.9 Rear Fuel Pump Issues

I may be just completely missing something here, but I am stuck on the wiring for my 1995 4.9 rear fuel pump. I just got the new fuel pump. I attached two photos: One is the wiring I was going off of that I found on another thread. Pictured in my left hand is the wires from the vehicle with the exception of the pump power sender power wires which I had hooked up. I made some foolish mistakes by 1 - not taking pictures / taking note of previous wiring, 2 - taking everything apart before knowing where it was going back together. However, I do remember the orange wire being connected to one of the larger black wires coming from the same direction. Possibly the small black wire from the vehicle being connected to the other large black wire. I'm not sure what those large black wires are for. Some rigged up ground?? I didn't get a voltmeter on it or anything as I was already in a rush to get this done because it was getting very late and I am exhausted. I just left the battery unhooked, capped each of the loose wire ends, and tarped down the frame for tonight. If any of you have some advice or knowledge on what this could be, that would be very appreciated.

Note: The fuel gauge hasn't worked for the rear tank since I bought the truck 9 months ago. Also, I was told the front tank didn't work, so I haven't touched that yet.

Crimped on the ends like that, the blue butt connectors will most likely have intermittent connection at best
They need to be crimped about 3/16 from each end to actually crimp the wire with the metal solderless insert
Other than that, your wiring should be simple
Looks like you got it

I understand that part, I hadn’t even crimped it fully or put the heat shrink tube. The problem I’m having is those two large black wires. I didn’t connect them to anything initially on the new pump or vehicle harness, and the truck didn’t start. I don’t know what those go to.
