Sound for 95 XL Single Cab
Has anyone else replaced their sound system? If so what kind and how many did you get? I was looking at alpine but that stuff is expensive. Any nice alternatives maybe?

It's a Canadian thing eh!
I got a combination of Sony in the front and Pioneer in the back. I made some small modifications to make 6x9" speakers fit instead of the 6x8" and does it ever sound nice
Did have an amp and sub when I first got it but took it out and looking to get a new one.

Hey thanks. In a single cab bench seat, I found a sub amp combination for it that would fit under the seat, but wouldn't touch the seat. Could that cause overheating? It will be anchored to the metal.

Just call me sean. Really
My area of expertise here!
I've got a Sony deck (45w x 4), the $45 Pioneer 6.5 door speakers from walmart (they really are great speakers for a mild setup), 2 JVC home theater tower speakers in the back, run in parallel with 2 Magnavox shelf speakers (also home stereo), and then I've got a 350 watt mono amp powering a 10" Pioneer sub in a truck box, down firing on the transmission hump.
Total cost of this system to me - $65. Got the deck for christmas, speakers in the back for free, sub/box for $20, pioneers for $45, and the amp for free.
Yeah it's a little rednecked, but it stacks up quite favorably to a couple of my buddy's cars/trucks. Most notable being my buddy's silverado single cab. I've put everything in his, but he's got a JVC deck (really nice), same door speakers, Polk Audio 4x6s ($80), Selenium 8 inch mid rangers ($100) powered by my old 300 watt sub amp, and a JL 10w1 or 10w3, can't remember which. Powered by a 400 watt amp. I'm only a little behind him.
If you have any questions, lemme know. Your doors are 6.5" round speakers, if you have rear speakers they will be 6x8.
As to amps overheating, how big of an amp are you looking for? My 350watt one with my sub is enough for any sane person who doesn't listen only to rap. You don't need big power in a single cab because there is so much less air space in the cab

Im partial to Pioneer decks. Ive put one in each car ive owned except for my F150. Even the cheap ones are solid and reliable.
Building your sound system heavily depends on if you want SPL or SQL, and your budget. Sound deadeners do more than just stop squeaks and rattles too.

Sony Deck sony 6.5's in doors. Sony 6x9's behind the seats and 2 8 inch under the seats with an old Pioneer amp 300 watts i think. Nice sound for an old workhorse and it 's loud enough to drown out all the Rap coming from the Jeep 1/2 mile away...

Pioneers front and rear, used the wiring adapters from Metra so I wouldn't have to cut the harness. Had a Pioneer deck in it for years, then pulled it to put in a Mustang I had. I currently have a JVC Arsenal A535 on order that I will be installing hopefully this weekend. Again using a wiring adapter kit (wish I had those when I was in high school so long ago). This truck is the easiest one I have ever changed decks in. Second easiest would be my old 85 Ranger. Just installed a double-din in my '01 Expedition...now that was an experience.
This was the previous deck.

Im gonna go against the mold here and say Sony is crap for car audio. Also avoid Boss, Pyle, Lanzar, Audiovox, Jensen.... most of what walmart carries. Sony home audio on the other hand, is pretty good in my experience.
And putting home audio stuff in a car is well, dumb. For one, home audio runs at 8ohms, car audio at 4 ohms.
