Default Child Car Seat 1993 f150

1993 f150 5.0 2wd e4od

Hey guys. I need some help here....This truck is my daily driver and my wife has a car. With the car, I can put the car seat for my 5 month old son, but the back seat in the truck is too short. I have tried just the car seat in there without the base (the base stays in the car), but it doesn't appear as though this is gonna work. Every time I want to go somewhere I have to have someone watch him because I can't bring him with. Anyone ever use a car seat in any of these trucks? Anyone have any ideas? Only thing I could think of was to remove rear seat and put a less steep one in from another model. Not my first choice.

I'd be interested to know if you figure it out..I've got a 4 month old daughter and we use our Mazda 3 most of the time. I have a '90 extended cab and figured the carseat would fit in the middle of the rear bench. I've got the captains chairs and center console in mine though...

Could you guys get a different seat that might fit? I dont know if a rear facing v. front facing seat would be preferable? I've always wondered about this as well.

What is the argument preventing child seats in the front bench? I always thought it was airbags, which these trucks don't have.

hmm

Do you have captians chair or a bench for a front seat?? I take my 1yr. old nice places in my 93 F150 I have the captain chairs and I put the car seat with base in between the two front seats it's a tight fit but it works and I had it checked by the CHP here in Ca. where I live and they said it was perfect.

Can't have a younger child facing forward, has to be rear facing up until what, 25 lbs or 1 year, whichever is first I think?

Thanks for the responses guys. I have buckets in front so that won't work. The rear is too steep to work right. I wonder if I make some sort of riser from the floor to the level of the seat so the base of the car seat can sit on it an make it right? I'm sure FHP will love that though and I want it to be safe. Maybe my only option is to find a rear bench from another model that is bigger? My wife hates my truck for this reason and I never hear the end of her wrath because of it. Also makes it very hard with the arrangements for my son.

Doesnt your rear seat fold down into a bed type deal? Seatbelts still work with it folded down doesn't it?

No mention of child's age and type of seat being used for the child. Maybe a different seat as suggested earlier? I know when I was initially shopping for a seat for my daughter, whom is 2.5 now, I made it a point to make sure it would fit in that back bench in my 91.... But that was only after she outgrew the newborn style 35-45lb rated seat. Her current seat is rated to something like 100lbs and can be used forward facing, rear facing, and as a booster seat as well as being aircraft certified for our planned travelling in the coming years.....

Edit: i see seat base being mentioned, so I'm gonna guess it is the newborn style seat?
