DIY wood bed floor
I have it in my head to put a wood floor in my 1992 FlareSide. The bed needs fresh paint but is 98% perfect.
I saw retroliner online... "install over your metal bed". But I plan on NOT spending $1300 to do it.
Anybody seen this done, done it yourself, or got any suggestions?
Concerns?
What to use for the strips... I read that the strips roofers use to hold rubber sheets down with are good.
Help?

I've been doing my homework.
I got some oak yesterday, I need to plane it.
The strips are next.
I'm in no hurry, as I'm in the phase of sanding my primer... I'm going to spray the paint before I jump on the bed. I will post here as it progresses.
I'm thinking about doing the tailgate also.

I am still holding out for some suggestions and ideas.
There are pictures on the web abounding of what I would call traditional and ordinary wood floors. That is to say finished wood clear coated with stainless strips. There is one that I found that is all wood which is wood boards with contrasting wood strips between them.
I am more inclined to do something a little different and less than traditional.
I have an idea to either dye the wood a transparent blue or to use a blue-tinted clear so that the grain will be visible... I have built several electric guitars with a clear tinted finish and it looks really nice. But I don't know how it would do on the truck.
Let me tell you what I'm building to give context for any suggestions.
1992 regular cab flareside in white with a blue pearl clearcoat and blue pearl accent stripe below the bottom styleline. I have completely redone the interior in black and grey with the blue pearl XLT plastic accent piece that goes down each door and across the dash. I I'm currently in the process of sewing up new upholstery for the lightning seats with a grey and a black microfiber suede with that same blue welt.
If you can picture that in your head, throw some suggestions at me for this wood bed floor.
I have ZERO experience other than browsing.
Thanks.
