Lightbulb Bronco Tailgate tire swing away attachment

I haven't been on the forum much Ive been keeping busy with my 3 vehicles.
its winter time in Maine so its time to get my truck all ready for the craptacilar weather. I picked up a mint bronco tailgate swing away tire carrier for 80 bucks and I will be putting in on my f150! So for anyone who thinks this is a cool idea follow this thread and I will be taking tons of pictures and step by step how to do it with out ripping your bedside off when you swing the gate open the first time.

What you will need.
1. 1985-1996 full size bronco swing away tire holder in good shape.
2. bronco has an internal plate for the striker grab that too
3. if you don't want to fabricate the 2 brackets on the bedside cut out the factory ones from the bronco as well
4. measurements ( Ill get them soon for you all)
5. drill with the correct size bit for metal
6. Blue painters tape

that is about it i think if i come across anything else Ill update it! this is a nice cheap way to get that cool expensive swing away look with out breaking the bank.

Alright I picked up the parts minus the extra brackets Ill show step by step for the internal brackets.

Should be doing it the next day I have off after thanksgiving.

I picked it up for 80 bucks that is Cheap considering there is only some minor surface rust on striker! and well Maine sucks for rust free parts.

Alright after some thinking drafting and more thinking its going to be a lot easier to just buy the Quarter panel reinforcement panel, only issue is that its a Dealer part and Might be tricky and even more expensive then the 32 bucks. Another issue I have run into is the tailgate striker latch enforcement panel. it seems that the Bronco has better access in that area.

Anyways here is the link to the part! http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/Ca...o=1a399#Search

get a handle flip kit to move it out of the way and then just reinforce the tailgate as needed

Nice tire location. my trucks a reg cab short bed. I'm doing it for 3 reasons one is I have 31s and the under bed carrier don't fit the 31.
two extra weight in the back out as far as it can.
three Ill be the only f150 around town with a cool swing away tailgate

Its more practical for me. I do not use my truck as a truck I might haul something to the dump or return my bottles that's about it rest of the time i just drive it to and from work.

Update: So it seems that the Dealer can no longer get or even locate the Rear quarter panel reinforcements so Junk yards or Make one up. Ill be making my own it does not seem hard to do at all. Next week on my day off ill be putting it on and Hopefully remember to take plenty of pictures of making it!

Yeah I have plenty of weight in the back and it would interfere with my access to it and my trailer.
