Transmission won't shift after motor installation
Recently bought a 1991 F150 with 5.0 and AOD tranny. Motor was shot. Bought another motor and installed it. Now the trans won't shift out of first. Reverse , neutral and drive go right into gear. Any suggestions?

Do you know for sure that the trans was working correctly when the engine failed? How long was the truck parked before the engine was replaced? Who replaced it? Did he connect & adjust the TV cable? Click this & read the caption:

The truck was running and driving when I did the motor swap. I personally drove the old motor about 50 miles and transmission shifted perfectly. A friend and myself did the motor swap. TV cable is attached, but it has not been adjusted. Anyone have the procedure to adjust it properly? Steve83, I am unable to look at your attachment for some reason!!! Guess it is because I am old. LOL

The procedure is in that diagram & its caption. If you can't see it by clicking the thumbnail, click the text below it. DO NOT DRIVE until the cable is adjusted - you can destroy the transmission in less than a mile.

Take it to a transmission shop, and ask them what they think is wrong.
