Tranny swap
 

I have a 96 150 4x4 5.8 auto A4OD and the trans went out. My question is. I have a 95 2wd 5.0 A4OD with low miles on it. Will the 95 trans work in my 96? Can I swap the tail shaft and output shaft from the 4x4 trans to the 2wd trans?

You can, if you know how to rebuild an automatic. The transmission is the same except for the tailshaft and tailshaft housing. Unfortunately the t/shaft goes in from the front of the trans, before everything else.

thanks for the info Chris. I knew that but didn't think of that...I guess the best thing to do is just buy the rebuild kit and rebuild the 96 trans since they both have to be disassembled anyway

The 95 may be in better shape inside - either way, you'll have spare parts if anything's torn up.
