Thought so xD

That may be overkill but at the same time I would actually be able to USE the torque the motor generates. All I do with a 2.73 is tear through u-joints.

and yes 3.08 thats what my red f150 has and i run 31s just fine. if you have to worry about MPG keep it stock with the 235s I ran 33s fine as well on my f150. my other f150 has 3.55ls with 265s just about the same size and look of 31s I noticed very little drop in performance on my f150 its a I6 5 speed with overdrive and 4x4.

what is the truck for? if its a DD (daily driver) keep it 2.73 gears my 2wd had that ratio and it had a heck of a lot more pep then my other one. if you want touqre go 4.10 plenty of toure and you will be lucky to go more then 60mph in 5th but get there quick.

if its a hualing truck 3.55s good its best of both worlds high way cruser 2.73s perfcit. or 3.08 just as well.
My 93 is a hualing truck with the 3.55 and AOD trans better towing capasity then my 94 with 308 and the 5 speed.

It's an everything truck. I pull a camper on rare occasions, haul everything anyone needs me too from horse **** to gravel, I pull my friends out when they get stuck, but its also my daily driver. Gas mileage isn't a huge concern but I like the ability to keep up with a 55 mph speed limit. I know I don't need 4.10s but I want a lower gearing than what I have. And if I'm doing that much I'm getting a Limited Slip Diff. No sense in NOT. An appropriate ratio is what I'm not sure of yet. And thank all of you, I appreciate your time.

Another question. I know I can use any rear end be it an 8.8, 9, or DANA axle. My question is what else to I need to change to accommodate a different axle?? I assume they aren't directly interchangeable. Would I need to relocate the shock mounts or anything like that??

I have 3.55s on my 5.8, on 235/75/15. I'm about to bump to 4.10s and 31s. It is also my dd, and does do a good bit of highway miles, half with a trailer, half empty. With 4.10s, my top speed would still be over 100, which is plenty fast for me. I almost never go over 80.

For one, if you go with something other then the 8.8 you won't have a working speedometer anymore because of the speed sensor on the differential housing.

Well you have a v8. I have an i6, yours runs at a substantially higher rpm xD
