I have to do a trans service and am undecided about the trans fluid.
I just saw online that O'Reilly has a high mileage Mercon ATF. I think I read somewhere that their oil and atf are made by Valvoline and if this atf is NOT Mercon V compatible and is just plain Mercon, I'm considering using it....unless you all can tell me a reason not to. We just got O'Reilly store in town, I have no idea what their quality is like.

Unless something has recently changed, O'Reilly's fluids are made by a company called Omni Specialty Packaging.

As for whether or not it's good to use, it's high mileage, so it should be beefed up.

One thing I want to clarify. Modern day Mercon V will work in any Mercon application. Mercon V is backwards compatible.

When Mercon V first came out in the 1990s, it was NOT backwards compatible, but now it IS backwards compatible.
