Default Noisy smog pump

The smog pump on my 1990 F150, 4.9 engine is rather noisy. I hear that the 6k806 belt is what to use for bypassing it. Just wanting to make sure I don't have any driveability issues from doing the bypass, truck is my daily driver

If the noise is recent and you live up here where the temperatures have dropped into the below zero range you might want to wait.

The more we know about your truck, the more we can help. Put your location in your profile, and put ALL the truck's details into your signature so we can see them with each of your posts. Click this & read the caption:

Disabling emissions systems is bad for the engine, you, & everyone else. It's not expensive or difficult to maintain them so they do what they're supposed to. A reman pump (if necessary) can be had in the $30-80 range, but it might just need some cleaning & oil in the bearings.

I would just get a new pump and fix my truck properly. Deleting things that are designed into the engine management system is just asking for other issues down the road.
If it wasn't important, Ford would have deleted it on hundreds of thousands of trucks and saved millions - but they didn't; which kind of makes you think that it probably needs to be there.

Ford also thought it was smart to ignore internationals advice and do their own thing with the 6.0 and 6.4 PSD, and that turned out great. Didn’t matter to me, those trucks made me a lot of money. Just because the manufacturer thought it was a good idea 30 years ago or did it for lack of a better idea, doesn’t it mean it actually was. You can run an after market cat and delete the entire smog pump/thermactor system, your engine will even thank you for it. Guess what? It will still pass the sniffer at your local smog spot.

You have to know what you're doing to get away with that. Not all modern cats are Oxygen-storing. And not all inspection stations will let a vehicle go whose pollution-control equipment has been deleted, just because it passes the exhaust analyzer. But even with the right cat, deleting the 2ndry air system can STILL cause problems, because the EEC/PCM may realize that you did it, and it can throw codes (which are an instant fail at the inspection station) or switch to a failsafe strategy that wastes fuel & limits performance.

The cheapest, safest, most-legal way to keep the truck on the road is MAINTENANCE. ...including ALL the original emissions systems.
