That's what I was leaning to, I only have a one piece driveshaft and my motor mounts were completely gone so I replaced them and made sure the motor was level what do I need to do to either free up the TC or keep it from slipping

I would look into the transmission shudder. Ford transmissions of that era are known for torque converter shudder. It's trying to lock up then it's not, then it it, then it's not, etc. Even fact that you think it stops when OD is disabled is good, that means it's not that bad. The converter still locks up in third and you should feel it shudder a bit, maybe just not as bad as in 4th (OD). The solution is a new torque converter. Temporary solution is a fluid change with a friction modifier. I've been nursing mine for years with fresh fluid changes and a modifier, still runs great.

Not accusing you of anything and not assuming you are new at this but I have done it myself more times then I want to talk about.
I've found out that if any needles lay down you woun't be able to push the cap in far enought to install the lock clip

another thought for you on the vibration....mine turned out to be a bad fan clutch..i found this out after the water pump snapped off and my fan took out the tensioner, belt and radiator..and shroud
