Default Need opinions on axle ratios

Currently in the middle of swapping a 460 into my 93 single cab short bed. I was planning on upgrading front and rear ends next. For those familiar with the 460, what would you recommend for gear ratio if running 36” tires? The motor being built should should have around 400hp/527ftlbs torque. Preciate any tips/advice.

Need to know what transmission you are using, and the type of driving you will be doing (mudder or pavement princess? - Does MPG matter?) before I can make a gear recommendation. Whatever it is though, a set of F350 axles will be necessary to handle that type of power.

Will get off in the mud on occasion for sure, but will mostly be just for getting around town. MPG doesn’t matter much to me at all. I’m using a beefed up E4OD (haven’t ordered from a specific company yet, but I have found several that build them up to be able to handle the workload). In the event that I take it on the interstate, it would be a bonus were it not screaming doing 80mph.

I would go with 4.10s if you don't care about mpg. You can get away with 3.55 or 3.73 with that much power, but 4.10s will be the most fun. And since you have the auto and not the ZF5, the highway rpms will still be pretty good. The ZF5 has the granny first gear and the higher OD ratio, so 3.55s would be my recommendation for that tranny.

Most important thing about the tranny is to get the triple disc billet torque converter. That'll keep your transmission alive for a lot longer.
