Welcome to the forum - there is no need for a performance upgrade on a computer unless you have mods that require it. What is wrong with your current computer?

Good morning. Not a big thing, they are cheap, transmission is slow to shift into 3rd and no codes. It works great in manual. Everything else seems to check out. Thought I might get a chip for one and throw it in...

Not a big enough problem to worry about yet...

Your computer is probably fine. The transmission problem could be a bunch of things. What do you mean when you say "it works great in manual."

If I leave it(the shift lever) in 2nd is doesn't feel like it's slipping. Otherwise, when I take off from a stop it "feels" like it doesn't know when to shift into 3rd so it sounds, feels, like it is not fully engaged in the higher rpms just before it slips into 3rd.

I'll let the guys who know the automatics better than me chime in, but based on what you are saying, it could be something as simple as an MLPS or maybe the shift solenoid pack inside the tranny. There are a lot of things that can cause the E4OD to shift funny, including a failing TPS or speed sensor. Does the truck have any other problems?

Good evening all. I had to stop and deal with a broken shifter tube. That was fun......

i would mention that an aftermarket version would not fit. The Ford version is the far better choice and has been strengthen in the historically weak area. As a member named Steve suggested on this forum!

i look forward to returning to the tranny question.

Best

Good morning, I now have some time to look into this again. Anyone know how to check the MLPS?
