Default Manual transmission knock sound

So I have a '95 f150 with the 4.9 6 cylinder. I recently had the tranny dismounted and replaced the entire clutch package. (clutch, slave, pilot bearing, pressure plate) and all that jazz. This was all about 5 or 6 months ago. Recently (the past 1 or 2 months), when the truck is at a stop and transmission in neutral and the clutch is engaged(not pressing the pedal) I have been hearing a very discrete knock sound; Like I said it's only when i'm not on the clutch pedal. Then once I disengage the clutch(press pedal in), the knock goes away.
It will only do it every once in a while. If i'm recalling correctly, it will do it when the engine is hot mostly. But it's the weirdest thing. At first I thought it was something with the engine, but then I realized if I have the clutch in it won't do it so that wouldn't make any sense. Did I not tighten something in the pack down correctly? Help please.

How far do you have to press the clutch pedal down for the noise to go away? Just a bit or enough for the input shaft on the transmission to stop turning?

I have to push the pedal in about half way and it will go away. So i'd assume thats enough for the shaft to stop turning.

When you get it pushed down enough for the noise to stop, can you shift to first or reverse with no grinding?

Nope. I have to have the clutch to the floor or it will grind.

The input shaft on the transmission must still be turning then with the clutch pedal half way down or you could shift into first or reverse without grinding.

How loud is the knock?

The volume actually varies which I probably should have mentioned. sometimes its very faint and other times its loud enough to hear it with the doors and windows closed.

My guess is the fingers on the pressure plate are making the noise. When you press the clutch pedal half way down the throwout bearing pushes against the pressure plate fingers and keeps them from rattling.
