Lets play, Does this driveshaft come apart? and, Name that noise!
So I have a weird squeak coming from the driveshaft and can't truly pin point it to a spot with a movable part. It's coming out of the shaft that's closest to the transfer case but I swear the squeak sounds like it's coming out of the center of the hollow tube, the part to the left in the picture below.
Could the u-joint or carrier bearing be causing the squeak but transferring the noise through the tube?
Also this noise started shortly after I got a weird vibration that comes and goes. I'm thinking the carrier bearing is shot any thoughts?
Which brings me to, does that shaft come apart to be able and replace the carrier bearing?

Yes it does come apart. We refer to it as a hanger bearing.

Thank! That's the plan as of now to pull the whole thing out and replace all the u joints just because i have it out. I will take it to have a new carrier bearing pressed on and I have one of those ball/ u joint c clamp tools coming to press out the u joints. Does anybody know what the sound could possibly be coming from?
