Clutch Issue?
I bought a 1996 F150 with 300 I6 and Manual transmission a few months ago and everything on the truck is great other than when shifting, the clutch does not engage until just before the spring in the clutch pedal takes action. This means it's not really possible to feather the clutch, it's pretty much on or off. The previous owner he replaced the clutch last year, but who knows. Does this mean I probably need a new clutch or is there something else I could be missing here? I know it's hard to tell without dropping the transmission but just trying to rule out any easy fixes before doing so, and I'd like to get an accurate diagnosis before I start throwing parts at it. Could it be something with the clutch pedal itself? Already tried bleeding the clutch.
It is possible that the bushings in the linkage between the clutch pedal and the master cylinder are worn out. But your issue really sounds like air in the system, and the concentric slave cylinder is notoriously tricky to bleed.
There should be an inspection hole in the bell housing, you can have somebody hit the clutch while you watch the slave cylinder to see how it moves.

I actually wasn't able to get the bleeder screw off because it was stuck really good and the previous owner stripped the screw. I ended up taking it to a shop to have them bleed it but I guess I should give it another try now that they've broken it loose. Any tips for bleeding it? Should I get a vacuum bleeder?
