Default '94 F150, getting harder to shift into 1st from stop

'94 F150, 4.9 V6 5 speed manual, close to 70K original miles.

Before I head for a trans shop, any ideas of why I am sometimes having a hard time getting into first gear at a stop? Clutch seems fine, shifts great once moving but if I take the truck out of gear waiting for a light I really have to push hard to get it back into gear.

Read post #2 & those captions, then post #3, and post #4 will make sense - especially when you read the caption.

It really makes no sense at all. I'm guessing you have no answer to my question? Perhaps someomne else does?

I had that same issue in my truck. I changed the gear oil in the transmission and that seemed to help a lot. Also. You should look at where the pushrod goes into the master cylinder. If there is brake fluid around the seal. That could be your problem. And also if the master cylinder is even a quarter of a turn loose on one of the nuts. That could cause a big issue.
I mean that’s all stuff I did on my truck. But I have the t18 transmission. So not everything is the same for us.

Thanks Shagg, I'll check those out. Coincidentally I had the truck in one of those fast oil change places this morning and the guy said he noticed a small leakage. Will try tonight to check those fluids and have the trans fluids changed asap.
