‘88 F150 Loose manual floor stick

1988 F150, I can find the gears, but the stick is totally loose, in gear or out of gear.

Do you have a 4 speed or a 5 speed? If you have a 5 speed, I know of one possibility with a fairly easy fix. I will wait to see what you have.
