4x4 linkage thing that pushes down is seized, never removed one, are they easy or is there a special trick?

I see nobody answered you. By now you could probably tell me. I spoke to a guy this morning who seemed to think you can just pull the boot off the top and unbolt 4 bolts from above. Mine is frozen up too. I'm wondering if it can't be removed and lubed up to work again. If not, I'll just buy a new one or find one in a junk yard. What was your experience?
