Default 1996 f150 5.8 EFI starts and then dies

Hello all, new user here, i am looking for advice for a new to me 1996 f150. I got the truck running but not driving as the front tank fuel pump didnt work and the rear tank rusted through. I have replaced the rear tank/fuel pump and the fuel filter. It will now start on its own but will die out after 2 or 3 seconds. It does this every time. It always starts right up but dies. Its not running any codes and will continue to run if you spray fuel down the intake. I believe something electrical is shutting it off but i have no idea what that would be. Any help would be appreciated thank you

What is the fuel pressure before cranking (key in RUN), and while it's running?

Unfirtunately thats one of my issues, i cannot test the pressure because i went to replace the schrader valve on the fuel rail (old one leaked) and when i was putting the new one on it broke off inside the rail. I really dont want to have to buy a new rail unless that really seems like it would help but it jist does not seem like its a fuel issue. You can clearly hear the fuel pump running the entire time the engine is running and it doesnt sound like it starves for gas it just dies out completely as if youve turned the key off. You can rev it up however you want while its running but pressing on the gas once its shutting off does not do anything at all

My 1989 302 began dying repeatedly, especially at stops. It always fired right up. It would drive fine for a few minutes, then begin sputtering and lurching, as if it was running out of gas or the gas filter was clogged. I couldn't figure it out. The shop I took it to finally found the distributor was the issue. For my old truck, ended up being $200.00

I found the problem. After replacing the fuel pressure regulator i checked the idle air control valve and that was stuck shut so i got a new one and it runs great now.

A '96 shouldn't have a smog pump - just an idler pulley.
