Default 1995 4.9 motor to be swapped into a 1996

I have an awesome running 4.9 in a 1995 2wd 5speed f150 and my 1996 4.9 f150 4x4 auto is in need of a transplant..aside from the 5 speed to auto conversion wich im very familiar with my question is will i be able to swap all the items needed from the 96 mass air engine to the 95 without a whole lot of issues..the 96 auto 4x4 truck carries the e4od..just wanna have a good idea what to look out for during the swap so any help is very much appreciated..anything major i need to be aware of in this process??

Keep all the wiring and the intake with injectors from the 96 when you swap in the 95 engine. The 96 is mass air and OBD2, the 95 is speed density and OBD1. There will be a lot of wiring differences between the two. The smog pump systems might need to be removed from the 95 engine as well - not sure of the changes on the 4.9 between those years, but on a 302 the 95 had a smog pump and on the 96 it just had an idler pulley.

Just a quick heads up, you might want to check with your local Emission laws if you have any, it might be illegal to swap an older engine in

There are several subtle differences, even if you take the engines down to the long blocks. The heads are different; the timing cover is different; the harmonic balancer... The wiring is relatively minor, but you should keep all the '96 wiring with that truck - don't swap any of the '95 pieces.
