Default 1994 Serpintine Belt too small?

I just bought a 1994 F150 with a 5.0 whose body isn't in great shape, but is pretty mechanically sound. However, when I bought the truck, there was no belt on it, nor was there a pulley for the tensioner. I replaced the tensioner pulley and got a belt for it (2WD with AC), but the belt WILL NOT slip under the idler pulley. In fact, the belt is ALMOST as tight as it should be when it goes over the idler pulley rather than under it -- all the accessories work fine that way, but the belt falls off after a while.

Any ideas? I'm thinking that maybe the tensioner pulley that I got from Autozone might be a little too big, but I'm not sure.
