I've never used them, but if you feel the need, buy some long bolts at any hardware store and cut the heads off.

If so, any guidance on which go where? There are a number of slightly different lengths and styles (2 with pointed ends, 2 with smaller washers).

No. Hood bolts have body-color paint, 10mm heads, medium captive washers, blunt points, and are about an inch long. I think their threads are M8x1.25 .

JY would be much better. Hardware store bolts are generally the cheapest garbage available.
