Default 1993 302 Throttle Body Questions

I am not sure whether there is a post on this topic or not but id there is then please direct me to it. I have a high idle problem with my 302. i have replaced the IAC and tested the TPS which turned out fine. if i let the engine go through the warm up cycle till it idles down i then have a high idle in between shifts and at stop lights. but if i dont let it go through the warm up cycle then i never have the problem. i took the throttle body off and cleaned it out but the problem persists. i noticed that when it idles high, i can push on the butterfly linkage and close the throttle to a lower idle speed. my questions are these:
1. what could cause this?
2. is my throttle body worn out?
3. could my TPS be working properly but so gummed up that it wont let the throttle close completely?
4. can you get a rebuild kit for a ford throttle body?
5. are there any cheap aftermarket replacement options?

Before you spend $, try adjusting the throttle cable for free.
It may be too tight or it could be binding up a bit.
A bit of white lithium grease on the throttle linkage may be of benefit as well.

my throttle linkage is working perfectly. lubed up and no sticking or hesitation. i took my throttle body off again, removed the electronics, cleaned and oiled it up again. there is no more carbon inside or outside on it. i did notice though that the butterflys have a tendency to still stick and not want to open or close properly...was it bulit this way, is is worn out, or do you still think it is my tps?

is there possibly an air leak in your throttle body gasket?

There is a chunk of gasket missing but it isn't missing all the way through. I did a starter fluid test on all the vac lines as well as the throttle body and intake manifold and there was no sign of a leak. at stop lights I have to goose the pedal to make it idle down to the correct rpm and the rpms race in between shifts.

have you scanned for codes? even if the light isn't flashing, there could be a code.

you could try unplugging your TPS with the truck running and see if anything changes, but it should throw a code if its bad.

I will try that. I've been thinking bad tps for a while. I watched a video that indicated that the tps may be faulty if the idle speed is still off after replacing the iac.it's got obd1 and IM not flashing any codes and the tps tested fine when I volt tested it. I oughta just buy one. Even if that's not the problem them I'll at least have a spare.
