1992 SuperCab 4x4 I6 4.9L
Hello,
I am a new owner of the above listed F150. I am looking for tips / best practices on how to drive / maintain my F150 to get the longest life and best run out of the truck. Any advice is welcome.
Just some info. This truck is a 3rd vehicle that we will only be driving occasionally: weekends to haul things and, during snow in order to escape our neighborhood, etc. It will probably be driven 2k miles per year or less. I am located in Central Virginia USA.
The truck has manual locking hubs. I have heard that in order to keep the front wheel hubs and drive lubricated I should periodically engage the hubs and 4x4. What are your thoughts on this?
The truck also has 2 fuel tanks. What is the best practice to maintain the health of the fuel system?
Thank you in advance for your advice.

Good idea to lock in the hubs once in a while just to turn the gears and let the oil move around in there.
Keep the fuel tanks topped up for parking it - less air inside; air = humidity which is moisture. Fuel stabilizer is good if it's going to be parked for a long time (months).
I'd maybe give it a once a year service (oil change etc.) even if it isn't getting the miles.
It would be good to take it for at least a short drive once in a while just to keep the brakes from rusting up.

How many miles on it? You might want to change the XMSN and radiator fluids if you have no maintenance history for the "new" truck. Check the brake pads and bleed the lines with fresh fluid as well.
The truck looks like my previous F-150, also a blue '92 I6 4x4. ...So also avoid women on cell 'phones in oncoming lanes. They like to run head-on into these trucks. '92 was the last year of no air bags in the F-150.

Thanks for the advice. Actually the truck only has 85k miles on her.
