Default 1988 F150 Fuel Problem

Good afternoon, I have a 1988 F150 XLT Lariat with the 5.0 302. I have just put in a new HP fuel pump and a new in-tank pump, with a new fuel filter. I have also replaced the plug wires and spark plugs. The problem is that she will start cold just fine and will idle for about 4 minutes then sputter out and die. Will try to crank back up and it will crank and crank but won't start. I wait about an hour and she'll start back up no problem, then die again in about 4 minutes. I don't want to just throw parts and hope to fix it. Thanks in advance.

When it dies, check for spark.

I finally had time today to start it and she ran as usual, after she died I sprayed starting fluid in while someone cranked it and it ran on the fluid so it has spark. Also I am not able to rent or purchase a fuel pressure gauge.

Sounds like you have no fuel. Check for power at fuel pump then get a new pump.

Just replaced fuel filter and I have little more than a quarter tank. This evening I'll crawl under the truck and inspect fuel lines.

I just started her to see if there was anything that could help to figure out the problem. The external HP fuel pump was whining louder than the engine and when it died the external HP fuel pump sounded like it was struggling. Should I remove it and get another or is there anyway I could test it.
