Default OEM Coil Spring Options - lowering

Hello all,
I am new here to the F150 forum. I purchased a 92 regular cab short bed 2wd 300 with a 5 speed back in may and am finished with maintenance and am moving on to modifications.

Since its a 2wd i am looking to lower it. (I have had several lifted 4x4s)
I have a number of factory springs from various trucks laying around my garage including 93 explorer 4x4 springs, ranger springs, and even jeep XJ springs.
So my question is, has anybody ever experimented with lowering their truck by using other OEM springs from a different model of vehicle?

just curious, Thanks.

Being a 2wd w/ 4.9L motor, your truck got the lightest springs available for the stock F150. Those would have been equivalent to Moog CC818's.

Specs for those are:
Ends: Pigtails
Free Height: 15.75"
Installed height: 12.13"
Inside Diameter: 4"
Bar diameter: .7"
Spring rate: 337 pounds per inch
Load rate: 1258 pounds.

So, you need to find something with a similar diameter, spring rate, load rate, but has a shorter installed height.

This is the link for the moog universal springs.
