Default rear tank oro

Im pretty sure that my back tank is not getting all the gas out of it. If it were then I would be getting 8 mog in the back tank and 14 or so in the frint, so this leaves me to believe that it is not getting all the gas by more than a small bit. So, what is some problems to look at, it is a 96 5.8 ext cab short bed. Thanks for the help

Anyone? Does thetank have a tube coming down into it like a straw? Or is it in the bottom? If it were the top could it be the tube having holes in it? Is this a commonly asked question, because I cant find anything about not getting all the gas out a tank.

My issue (I think), is the fuel pump to my back tank supplies more fuel then the engine needs and the extra is returned to my front tank. I don't use the front tank as it has fuel pump issues, and it always has fuel in the tank. Front tank has even overflowed a couple of time through gas cap. I need to try and drain it to just see how much is not being returned to rear tank.

IIRC there was a recall or TSB on exactly this issue. That might also be the problem faced by the OP.

Even running the front tank the gas in the back runs down over time.

looks like someone else had the same, or a similar problem. Consider: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/31...tor-valve.html
