I just bought a 91 f150 2wd w/5.0L. Had a small fire under the hood, no exhaust beyond headers and no brake pressure. fixed the brakes, still have abs light in dash. Where can I find harness for injectors and what can I safely delete from engine, (air pump, egr valve, etc)? Looking for suggestions and help. I am a fair mech but no genius.
You can delete the EGR with a plate, or with one of those upper intake spacers with the EGR port blocked. They may make a plug in to prevent CEL for that. Air pump can be deleted, but you should probably remove the catalytic converters if you do so. You will need to replace and reroute your front end accessory belt for that. Thermactor tubes on the heads can be deleted with plugs, or just cut the pipes and seal it up. You can delete/bypass the intake air warmer (on the throttle body) to simplify the coolant plumbing. All the BS vacuum lines for the emissions can be deleted. You can delete the charcoal canister. You can find a new injector harness in the junk yard or you can order a new/used one online.
on my old 5.0L mustang I deleted the AC and smog pump... moved and rotated the tensioner to where the AC was, then rerouted the belt over the tensioner pulley. I can't remember what belt I had to use.. but it worked great and ran low 12's on motor.
