Yesterday, I opened the valves covers to « just » replace gaskets I discovered that disgustξng
I know we cant clean this arrange without dismantling the head, but I think everything is dirty even the return galleys.
My plan : close the return galleys, and then scrub everything with vaccuum shop. Open the oil pan and scrub it. Fill with cheap oil, run a little, then flush it.
what do you think ?
I would leave it alone unless you plan on tearing the engine completely down. Dropping the pan and cleaning it and the oil pump pickup screen would be a good idea. Perhaps some more frequent oil/filter changes would gently help. Flushing or disturbing that crud could end up dislodging and plugging an oil passage and ruining a bearing.
I have seen it happen before.
I answer lately
Thx, your feeling is my position too. I only use a high suction shop vaccuum to remove the chunks, change the gaskets and close covers.
