California 1995 F150 302 4r70w swap question
The old 302 on my '95 F150 4x4 is worn out and I would like to replace it. The current engine/transmission is the 302 (with MA) with the 4r70w transmission.
I'm thinking of either replacing the engine with a 351w or another 302 stroked to either a 331 or 347 for more power/torque.
Questions:
Being in California, what kind of smog considerations do I need to take into account? For instance, if I swap to a 351w but use the 302's ECU, will I have issues passing smog?
I have heard that using the ECU from the 302 to run a 351w will cause the engine to run lean. Is this true? Should it be a concern? If so, what should be done about it?
If we are thinking of swapping for a stoked motor, what kinds of issues do they have? I have heard rumors of some 347's using a lot of oil.
Any other issues I need to be aware of? Thanks in advance for the help!
