92-93 302 knock sensor block
I am considering rebulding a 302 roller engine that came out of a 91 Mustang. In reseaching rebuilt engines I see that for the 92-93 F-150 302 indicates that they have something called a knock sensor. My truck is a 92 model that I will still me driving. My question is can I use the mustang block that does not have that? What does that knock sensor affect? Any info on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

The knock sensor effects timing. If the sensor detects "knock" (preignition, also known as "pinging", "dieseling"...) It will signal the computer to retard the timing. It allows the EEC system to run the most advance possible at all times and maximise power without damaging the engine.
If your vehicle currently doesn't have a knock sensor, installing a block that will accept one will only require you to plug the hole the knock sensor would go it.
Something I'm trying to determine it if a vehicle has a knock sensor, like my '93 F150 ( I haven't determined if it does) can a knock sensor be retrofitted?
Anyway, knock sensor helps the computer determine proper timing.
