Default 5.4l engine will not turn over even by crank pulley

I went to start truck today and it will not start. I can't even turn it over manually with power handle on crank pulley. Question is, can the AC pump sieze and prevent this or is it more likely internal engine problem. The truck ran fine 2 weeks ago. Battery is at full capacity. Any thoughts would help as I am dealing with snow in the driveway, so cant get near it to tow it.

Pull the belt off it and see if it will turn over.

Yep what he said ^

Does the overflow tank have any water in it or is it missing water?

Pull the dipstick, does it smell like a lot of gas in the oil ??

Could possibly be any of your accessory pullys binding up. If the motor will turn over with no belt, the cost of an accessory unit is way below that of a replacement motor, just have to figure out which one.

Removed belt and truck started. AC compressor seized. Pulley will not move but AC clutch will. Don't need AC in these parts, so replacing it with idler pulley.

You may be able to replace the bearing on the a/c compressor or whatever has failed. There is one 8mm (I think) bolt that holds on the clutch plate and you should be able to take a look from there. Keep in mind that the a/c runs when the defrost is on as well. It's not just for keeping cool in the summer...

I bought a car with a "blown motor" and it had this same issue. A/C compressor bearing blew apart. I replaced the bearing in probably half an hour start to finish and the car ran again and the A/C still worked. Can't beat that!

EDIT, based on what you said if the a/c clutch moves but the pulley will not move that is how mine was. That was on an '02 Cougar and I'm pretty sure both use the same FS-10 compressor. Good chance if you can swap the bearing it'll be cheaper/easier to fix it than bypass it. Last I checked Rockauto had rebuild parts or you can do what I did and get a complete unit from the junkyard and swap what you need.

Thanks, but compressor is wasted, so want to remove and install bypass pulley. Only problem, what is the trick to acess the 3 bolts that hold compressor on. Can't get socket & ratchet in there or spanner with a decent grip on it. Does engine require lifting from mounts? Any thought would be great.

I wouldn't think you'd have to lift the engine to get the compressor unbolted/removed. My truck is a 4.6L so I'm sure it's slightly different but I had removed the fender liner and was able to get pretty good access from the passengers side fenderwell. I'm not 100% sure but I think I used an open-end/box wrench or possibly my gear wrenches to get the bolts out. Once they break free they should come out pretty easily.
