Default White milky substance under oil cap?

I realized the other day I was running two quarts low in my 99 F150 during the wintery weather, and saw the white milky substance under the oil cap. What do I do and where do I begin, should I hurry up and change my oil before testing for coolant leaks or doing anymore driving in it?

Unless the oil itself looks like a milkshake and you are losing coolant, I wouldn't be too alarmed. Very common to see under oil filler in the colder months because the top of the engine doesn't get hot enough to burn off normal condensation. I have the same issue. Just make sure your PCV and breather are in good condition. Especially with your oil consumption.Longer drives should burn off any condensation.I am assuming your thermostat also is in good working condition.

Thanks for the quick response, you really eased my mind. I'll definitely keep an eye out on the pcv and breather, and yes, the thermostat should be good, replaced it last year.

Also, I apologize for posting in wrong forums, I didn't realize I posted in pre 97 engine forum.

Agree with raski, more than likely just a typical thing during colder weather, but good to follow-up with checking the oil, etc. to verify.

Yesterday, my oil fill cap on my sedan was frozen in place because that milky moisture had collected there and froze.. Just keep an eye on your coolant and oil levels and stay warm!

Like others have said, normal and is just moisture. Mostly from short trips, I freaked out when I checked the 'catch can' I have on my Mustang. It had some of white milky crap, just moisture. I've read if you do long drives the moisture wont be as bad.

I had a 3 mile commute for years and had that problem on many cars. Take it up on the high way and run it for a half hour or so. Should clear up. Jim
