Default Y-pipe

Just bought an 88 f-150 straight 6 4x4 flat bed. Exhaust is shot so I ordered and new y pipe and cat to start. Was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips for installing one of these? Had 2 wranglers and other stuff I've worked on so I'm no stranger just new to the ford world.

The studs that hold the pipes to the manifold are going to want to break. You'll have to really heat up those nuts to have a hope of undoing them. Pulling the starter off ahead of time might make your life a little easier.

Alright thanks. So they are studs? I had dreams of just cutting them off and getting new hardware. Now this has become a project.

Here's what they look like without the truck in the way. This pic is a 94, but probably very similar.

Ordered a pipe and when it didn't come I checked my email. Cancelled the order because it wasn't ny compliant. Found the walker set up on rock auto and it has a $50 visa gift card so it's actually a better deal. Should be here Monday and we'll see what happens

You need heat. Oxy acetlene. If you can get those nuts glowing cherry red they might come off without snapping the studs.
But there is a good chance they will snap in which case you will have to pull the manifolds and drill them out and replace them with bolts or something.
Not going to be a fun or quick job. Not trying to discourage you, just trying to prepare you for the likely problems.
