I'm not a big fan of them but it should work. I dont see why it wouldn't.

Quickest easiest fix would be an msd boost timing master, its an electronic timing controller with a built in pressure switch,

related graphics to make more interesting goes here

I've run MSD 6 BTM, Crane HI 6 TR, both of which retard timing with boost. Ideally, you would be running a 2 bar SD setup where you could just program in the timing table, incorporating less timing at boost. I've done the simplest way, too, where you just retard timing across the curve by twisting on the distributor. In your case, the latter should be strongly considered.
