what gears do you have in the back, that makes a difference i have 3.08s in my 92 on slightly larger than stock tires and get 20+ mpg regularly. i also drive at the speed when it shifts right into overdrive, around 52 mph, 4.9s have enough torque to do this, with a 5.0 not a chance to high strung

On the door jamb will be the axle code and a number, that tells you what gears you have.

Depends on you're driving habits and daily route. Because you have a lift and I assume bigger tires, a high hear ratio robs power as the truck has to work harder to get it to roll.

So I would have something in a lower range, 3.55 or 4.10

if you dont have larger tires then 3.08s like i have seem like a good combo there are some fairly large hills in my area and the way i drive it kicks down and puts the rpms in the peak torque area with my 4.9 but that depends on the motor. if you do have a lift and bigger tires then i would go around 3.83 for a good medium gear
