I prefer the 4.9 for just about everything but the 5.0 sounds so much better. Pulling my 3800 pound travel trailer I get just over 8mpg with a 302 and about 11mpg with the 300, so the 302 model is going to be sold soon.

My first truck was/is a 83 f150 2wd 300. I love that thing! She's got 278k miles on her and I've pulled peach trees and logs and a fair share of Chevys with it. It does great in the snow and that granny 1st is a dream to pull with. The stock 300 isn't fast but if you treat her good shell take care if ya.

the 300 is not good for going 80mph down the highway pulling a car trailer. Think of it like a tractor. It will pull anything as long as your not in a hurry. Sure you can do 80mph in a 302 but how long is that gonna last? When new the 302 had slightly better ratings as far as HP and torque, but I bet if you put the two motors on a dyno with 200,000 miles each the 300 will have retained most of its power, while the 302 is a dog.

When I bought my 13, if I could have bought a brand new 92 with the 300...that's what I'd have bought........
